Rustam Tariko was born March 17, 1962 in the city Menzelinsk (Tatarstan).
At age 17 he moved to Moscow, where he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Transport Engineers (MIIT), laboring during study as a janitor. In 2000 he received the diploma of the French business school INSEAD.
